I’ve been to Florida more times than I can remember, and I’d been to the Tampa area once a few years ago. But earlier this year, I had the opportunity for a girl’s weekend.  While I did none of the planning, all of our activities were planned by a good friend who knows the area well. She planned the perfect itinerary that I have to share here to give you ideas for a future visit!

Even though Tampa and the adjoining area sits on the West Coast of Florida, it’s geography with both Tampa Bay and the Gulf makes it an ideal spot for seeing both the sunrise and sunset.  I made sure to do both every day!

Day 1: (Of note, this day is in the running as my “best 24 hours” of the year!)

-Breakfast at Wildflower Café

-Flamingo’s, Turtles, Parrots and Flowers at the Sunken Gardens

-Dali museum (make sure to wait for a Docent tour – it makes all the difference!)

-Drink on the rooftop bar at the Birchwood Canopy

-Sunset small boat tour (bring your own wine and snacks)

-Hanging out late by the pool Residence Inn in St Petersburg

Day 2:

-Breakfast at Maggie Mae’s

-Mural walking tour

-Book and Bottle for shopping and wine drinking (one of my new favorite book stores)

-Cellar Masters for more wine

-Sun-Guini for ocean side dinner

Day 3:

-Oxford Exchange for brunch (I’ll definitely be back. You need a reservation for the dining room but we were pretty happy at the Champagne bar)

-Hyde Park Market (large farmers and artisan market)

I know I didn’t give a lot of details… but look up some of these fabulous destinations for yourself. You won’t regret it!
