Moundsville, West Virginia (directly south of Wheeling) We took a quick detour on our recent trip from Maryland to Ohio but I definitely need more time there. Much more time. Here are a few of the things on my list.
Palace of Gold We did a quick stop here. I want to go back and stay in their cabins and eat at the vegetarian restaurant. Or maybe to attend the Holi Festival they host yearly. A visit to India is definitely on my short list but I think a long weekend in New Vrindaban might tide me over until I can get there.
The other two places I’m interested in visiting in Moundsville (we just did a drive by because they are closed on Monday- good to note) are the:
West Virginia State Penitentiary- take a haunted tour OR if you are brave enough they have overnight lock ins.
And also the Grave Creek Mound, an ancient burial mound.
Who knew there was so much in West Virginia! Is there anything else I should add to my not-too-long-in-the-future West Virginia Road trip?
