Blue Ramen – Is it worth the hype?
If you type in “blue ramen” you will get dozens of hits all about the same small Tokyo café – Ramen Kipposhi. Ever on the hunt for my favorite ramen spot, some friends and I went to check it out.
Kipposhi is an easy 5 minute walk from Shibuya station. However, it is not well marked so when following your GPS once you arrive at the destination it is up the stairs in between the Donut and ABC mart.
As with most ramen shops, it is a small location so I recommend arriving early. Frankly, the ramen tastes more like a light chicken noodle soup than ramen. While definitely not bad, it wasn’t particularly good or noteworthy other than the blue color. However, my friend was a huge fan of the eggs and thought it was one of (if not the best one) she has had.
So was it worth the hype?
Taste – no
Experience trying something new and fun – yes!
